When Thin is Too Thin
Some of us spend most of our youth watching our weight, trying to remain healthy and thin. Then, suddenly, due to exercising, age, or other issues, our faces look too skinny—they look gaunt! Or of course, you are fit and healthy, but you happen to lose your fat in all the wrong places. Your face needs fat for a healthy, youthful appearance. That baby fat really does make you look younger. According to a study published by Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the lead culprit that causes people to look older is a thin face.
Age is definitely a big factor. As you age, you lose a lot of your facial volume. Facial volume is especially important to women over 40. If women lose weight after 40, aging becomes more enhanced and accelerated. If you lose weight in your body, you will naturally lose the volume in your face as well. Losing weight or volume in your face causes wrinkles to develop, creates jowls, and creates that skeletal look in which folds become more apparent. As we get older, we lose more and more volume in our faces.
When things cause your face to thin too much, what can you do to fix it?
Sculptra. Sculptra is a minimally invasive treatment that gradually replaces the collagen in your face that can be lost from aging or weight loss. Collagen beneath our skin is a key element that provides volume and gives shape to our faces. At around age 30, the collagen in our skin starts to break down faster than we can replace it. Sculptra helps restore the lost volume in your face, and since the results are gradual, you get natural looking results that can last up to two years!
Radiesse. Radiesse is a facial filler that can instantly correct facial wrinkles. Radiesse can be used to fill out hollowed cheeks, or raise sagging cheeks (to give a more youthful healthier appearance). Radiesse also stimulates your body to produce your own natural collagen to restore fullness and smooth out wrinkles.
Juvederm. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid (a naturally hydrating substance found in young health skin) gel filler typically used to fill in the “parenthesis” around your mouth. It’s used to instantly smooth out folds and wrinkles on your face.
All of these are minimally invasive in-office procedures; you can be in and out of the office during your lunch break. Contact us today for your free consultation to find out what will work best for you!
