A Necklift as Part of a Full Facelift
Your face is the most defining part of your body. It’s what people see and judge when they meet you. Unfortunately, it’s also the part that gets affected most by the elements. The face, along with the neck, is subject to aging, sagging, lines, and wrinkles more than any other part of the body. Unfair, isn’t it? But, it doesn’t have to be, thanks to cosmetic surgery. Now you can have a timeless face and an enviable neck with surgical facial rejuvenation.
We offer numerous facial-rejuvenation procedures, including the facelift and the necklift. Age is the primary reason for choosing these surgeries. They can lift and tighten skin and soft tissues on the face and neck, leaving you looking years younger.
Before you arrange a consultation with a skilled facial plastic surgeon, it is important to understand what a facelift and necklift can achieve.
Facelift
Also known as rhytidectomy, a facelift provides the patient with a youthful and rejuvenated appearance. It is used to remove excess fat, wrinkles, and lines from the facial skin, toning it in the process. The procedure involves pulling up the soft tissues under the skin in the area that goes from the cheeks to the forehead, correcting inconsistencies along the way. This allows for the skin of your face to be tightened without tension, which keeps you looking young for much longer than lifting skin alone. The primary focus of the traditional facelift is on the lower cheeks, jowls, jawline, lower face, and chin.
Necklift
This procedure involves the tightening of the superficial muscle tissues of the neck. It also helps remove excess skin and fat from the neck while tightening the neck muscles, contouring the area to give it a toned look. It is an effective method to get rid of a turkey neck, where excess tissue hangs loosely under the chin.
One Procedure vs. a Combination
Some people come in interested in a necklift only and completely neglect the face as a whole. They feel that as long as the neck issues are resolved, it is good enough. A necklift can be done without an accompanying facelift procedure, but the results will be far from satisfactory. A younger-looking neck with an aged, drooping face is not typically aesthetically pleasing, leading to the “basketball on a stick” appearance.
If you want a complete facial makeover, you should opt for a combination of facial procedures. Combining a facelift with a necklift works on your lower face and neck, and adding a blepharoplasty and brow lift rejuvenates the upper face and eye area to provide comprehensive rejuvenation. A midface lift is also ideal for midface rejuvenation.
It is also important to have realistic expectations from the surgery. It will not stop your skin from aging or getting affected by damaging elements such as the sun, wind, pollution, or dust. It will, however, often provide smoother skin and a younger look overall.
